YSRC condemns TD-led government’s move to privatise medical colleges

Speaking to media here, Nagarjuna asked the government to withdraw its proposal to privatise the medical colleges.“Otherwise, the YSRC will fight on behalf of students to ensure that medical education does not go out of their reach,” he warned.Nagarjuna asked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and HRD minister Nara Lokesh to honour their pre-election promises. Otherwise, their hypocrisy will stand exposed before the public, he maintained.The former minister pointed out that Chandrababu Naidu had not established a single government medical college despite being the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh for 14 years. Jagan Mohan Reddy, during his five-year-term as chief minister, had undertaken construction of an unprecedented 17 medical colleges simultaneously, creating 2,550 new medical seats.“The YSRC chief aimed at providing high-quality medical care to the poor by starting as many as 17 medical colleges throughout the state. Instead, the TD-led coalition government wants the new medical colleges to come up under the PPP model,” Nagarjuna pointed out.
