Bad roads in Tiruchi

The Hindu

The condition of several roads in Tiruchi has turned from bad to worse after the recent spell of rain. Important stretches, including Karur Bypass, Bishop Road, Bharathidasan Salai, Old Madurai Road, VOC Road, Mela Chinthamani, EVR Road and roads around Central Bus Stand, Thillai Nagar and Srirangam have been damaged. Since the number of vehicles plying through these roads remains high, the loosely packed material started coming out of potholes. Meanwhile, the civic body has sought ₹40 crore from the State government for laying roads that are damaged by the ongoing rain. The civic body has planned to take up restoration of severely damaged roads at a cost of ₹1 crore on priority.
