Uno Minda sues JV partner in Singapore arbitration court
Live MintHomegrown auto components manufacturer Uno Minda Ltd has initiated arbitration against its joint venture partner, Westport Fuel Systems, alleging violations of their exclusivity agreement over the past three years. Uno Minda has claimed that Westport breached the agreement by supplying CNG components directly to other clients, and bypassing the joint venture, that resulted in lost business opportunities, according to a regulatory filing. “The JV will be protected and there has been no disruption in supplies to Uno’s customers.” Westport’s alternate fuel systems joint venture with the Indian company, Minda Westport Technologies, impacts about 2.5% of Uno Minda’s net profit or loss. Westport Fuel Systems, which supplies fuel delivery components for affordable alternative low-carbon fuels such as natural gas, renewable natural gas, propane, and hydrogen, did not immediately respond to Mint’s email seeking a response.
