Plea to re-lay roads damaged in floods
Councillor Gogila Vaani of ward 12 has urged the Corporation to immediately repair the road along Tamirabharani River in Sindhupoondurai and also the road beneath North Bypass Road, which were badly damaged during the mid-December floods. Councillor Ambika of ward 53 submitted the petition seeking the construction of drainage channel in NGO ‘B’ Colony and the re-laying of road in Drivers’ Colony in her ward. Residents of ward 18 and 19 have urged the Corporation officials to re-lay the road in Teachers’ Colony in Pettai as the damaged stretch is causing accidents everyday. Accompanied by the office-bearers of Communist Party of India, residents of Teachers’ Colony in wards 18 and 19 in Pettai area submitted a petition seeking re-laying of the road and drainage channel in their area. Since the road dug for the underground drainage work is in the worst shape and hence causing accidents involving bikes, the Corporation should take immediate steps for laying road in the second street of Teachers’ Colony, the petitioners said.
