This is what failed lockdown looks like: Rahul Gandhi compares coronavirus cases in India with other countries
India TodayFormer President of the Indian National Congress and incumbent Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Wayanad in Kerala, Rahul Gandhi took to micro-blogging website Twitter on Friday to criticise the Central government's nationwide lockdown aimed at containing the spread of the novel coronavirus. In his tweet, Rahul Gandhi included a graph comparing the total number of confirmed cases of infection in five countries, namely India, Spain, Germany, Italy and UK, before, during and after the respective governments in these countries imposed either a partial or a complete lockdown. If the graph is to be believed, India emerges as the only country out of the five nations where the number of cases continues to rise despite a nationwide lockdown that was first imposed on March 25 of this year. pic.twitter.com/eGXpNL6Zhl — Rahul Gandhi June 5, 2020 In comparison, at the time the first nationwide lockdown was enforced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 25, India had detected a little over 600 confirmed cases and 12 coronavirus-related deaths across the country.
