Depression in Bay of Bengal to cross Odisha-WB coast as 'very severe cyclonic storm' on May 26: IMD
India TodayA depression that formed over east-central Bay of Bengal at 11:30 am on Sunday is expected to intensify into cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’ by Monday, the Indian Meteorological Department stated. According to the IMD, the cyclonic storm will move north-northwest and cross the north Odisha-West Bengal coast between Paradeep and Sagar Island by the evening of May 26 as a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’. While Cyclone Amphan, which caused widespread damage in eastern India in May 2020, was categorised a ‘super cyclonic storm’, Cyclone Yaas this year is so far expected to be a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’.
