Siddaramaiah sets three-month deadline for officials to issue B-khata for properties in unauthorised layouts

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday set a three-month deadline for the commissioners and chief officers of corporations and municipalities, respectively, to issue B-khata as a one-time solution to properties in unauthorised layouts so that they could be brought under the property tax net. While issuing such directions through a videoconference that was attended by Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, the Chief Minister made it clear that issuing B-khata was only a one-time-measure and warned the Deputy Commissioners as well as commissioners of corporations and chief officers of municipalities that they would be held responsible if any new unauthorised layout comes up in future in their jurisdiction. Making it clear that there was no question of granting any more opportunities for unauthorised layouts to get B-khata, he said this was the last time that the government had decided to bring them under the tax bracket and that such layouts would not be allowed in future. He asked the officials concerned to take up the process of issuing B-khata to unauthorised layouts in a campaign mode so that everyone could be given property documents within the deadline of three months.
