'Who knows what actually happened?' Haberman dismisses Trump’s Truth Social brag

Raw Story

Donald Trump’s boast on social media that Mexico agreed to “immediately” close the U.S.-Mexico border has at least one doubter — a New York Times reporter who spent years extensively covering the president-elect. The moment happened on Wednesday during an appearance by Maggie Haberman on CNN when the Times reporter was asked what she made of Trump’s border announcement that he made on his Truth Social platform. “Mexico will stop people from going to our Southern Border, effective immediately,” Trump said in one of his social media posts Wednesday. “I mean, you know he has made statements like that before when he was president and it didn't actually amount to the closure of a border.” Haberman, who earlier this week found herself the subject of a late-night Trump social media rant, continued her analysis of Trump’s latest move as president-elect by saying it may not be a coincidence that it came a day after he made “very aggressive tariff threats” against Mexico and Canada.
