CPI(M) protests against hike in bus fares

The Hindu

Communist Party of India held a protest near Gandhi Square on Wednesday against the State government’s decision to hike bus fares by 15%. The CPI workers gathered near Gandhi statue and displayed their ire against the hike in bus fares by shouting slogans against the government’s decision. In a statement here, secretary of Mysuru City Local Committee of CPI N. Subramanya described as “undemocratic and unscientific” the hike in bus fares by the government under the pretext of rising fuel prices and employee wages. With the bus fare hike adding to the burden of rising prices of essential commodities, the CPI has urged the State government to withdraw the increase in bus fares.
