'Shocked to hear Lanka's claims': Stalin urges Centre to support UN resolution against Sri Lanka
India TodayDMK president MK Stalin released a statement on Sunday amid reports that Lanka was hopeful of India's support at the UNHRC session, saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'silence' over the issue has sent a big 'shock' among Tamilians. Stalin said he was shocked to hear Sri Lankan Foreign Secretary claim that he expected India to vote in favour of Sri Lanka at UNHRC on the island nation's rights and accountability record. India should vote in favour of the United Nations’ resolution against Sri Lanka for its war crimes and human rights violations on March 22, MK Stalin urged PM Modi. Stalin said India must not take a stand favouring Sri Lanka, which would be "an injustice" to Lankan Tamils. The resolution accuses Lanka of war crimes with threats to take those responsible to the International Courts and impose targeted sanctions against officials allegedly responsible for human rights violations.
