
Delhi High Court stays BFI president’s circular on election eligibility
The HinduThe Delhi High Court has stayed Boxing Federation of India president Ajay Singh’s March 7 circular, allowing only elected members of State units to take part in the federation’s elections on March 28, informed a source on Wednesday. Former Union Sports Minister and BJP Member of Parliament Anurag Thakur, representing the Himachal Pradesh Boxing Association, and Larry Kharpran of Meghalaya were found ineligible to be part of the electoral college, issued by BFI president Ajay Singh and approved by returning officer Justice R.K. Gauba, on this ground. READ: BFI President Ajay Singh: If state federation is stopping boxers, federation to personally pay for them to participate in Nationals Delhi unit’s Rohit Jainendra Jain and Neeraj Kant Bhatt were also found ineligible by the returning officer. Sources said Justice Mini Pushkarna clarified that the election process, including the declaration of results, would continue but would be subject to the outcome of the petition.
