SA's child protection system labelled 'fundamentally flawed'

CHRIS UHLMANN, PRESENTER: The credibility of South Australia's child protection system lies in tatters. Now documents obtained by 7.30 show long delays in investigating the abuse of Aboriginal children, adding yet more weight to the view of one expert that the state's child protection edifice is fundamentally flawed. ALEX MANN: Dr Leah Bromfield is a child protection expert and has advised the Federal Government over its Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. ALEX MANN: Now, 7.30 can reveal another serious failure of the state's child protection system in the remote APY Lands in the far north of SA. ALEX MANN: Emails show child protection staff working on the APY Lands becoming more frustrate with the delays.
