IPL 2023: Jitesh Sharma trying to learn responsibility in new role in Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings keeper Jitesh Sharma became an overnight sensation in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League with his aggressive batting in the finisher's role for Punjab Kings. Sharma raked up 234 runs at the strike-rate of 164 in the 2022 IPL season, but sadly will not be playing the same way in the 2023 edition of the tournament. Speaking ahead of their second match against Rajasthan Royals at Guwahati, Sharma explained that due to the lack of Jonny Bairstow, he has been promoted to the top order, which does not allow him to bat freely like he was used to with the IPL franchise and his domestic side in Indian cricket. Punjab have brought in Sam Curran and Sikander Raza in the lower-middle order and the Zimbabwean and England internationals are expected to deliver in the finishers' role this season.
