Fort Worth Star-Telegram/Tribune News Service/Getty Images American journalist Austin Tice vanished while reporting near Damascus in August 2012. The US has long believed Tice, a US Marine Corps veteran and former Georgetown law student, was being held by the Syrian government, though the regime never acknowledged it. One US official told CNN there is a “full-court press” to find Tice and the US is “leaving no stone unturned.” Top US hostage negotiator Roger Carstens has traveled to the Middle East to engage with stakeholders there. Carstens is in Beirut, Lebanon as part of the “intensive efforts underway … to find Austin Tice and bring him home to his family,” a State Department spokesperson said Monday.
