Payyoli native named one of ‘AI’s 10 to Watch’ by IEEE Intelligent Systems
The HinduIEEE Intelligent Systems, an international peer-reviewed magazine published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Computer Society, has recognised Sarath Sreedharan, an assistant professor of computer science at Colorado State University, as one of ‘AI’s 10 to Watch’ for his foundational framework of human-aware artificial intelligence systems and its applications in addressing challenges like explainability and value alignment. The research work of Mr. Sreedharan, a native of Payyoli in Kozhikode, focuses on the foundations of Artificial Intelligence, aiming to translate human beliefs, behaviours, and ethics into algorithms that AI systems can integrate. The CSU report says that Mr. Sreedharan has been exploring AI systems by leading the Human-Aware Planning and Interaction Lab and initiating new human-aware research with master’s and doctoral students. Through collaborations with industry partners and grants from the National Science Foundation, HAPIL has hosted projects ranging from AI system development for day-to-day tasks to tutoring systems aimed at supporting bee conservation efforts, it adds.
