46 cybercriminals arrested by West Bengal Police with links to Jamtara cybercrime gang

West Bengal Police have arrested 46 cybercriminals from different parts of the State, with all of them having links to the Jamtara gang of Jharkhand. In the last one month, more than 250 cybercrime incidents have been reported from different parts of West Bengal, especially areas bordering the neighbouring State of Jharkhand, including Birbhum, Asansol, Hooghly and Chandannagar, and East Burdwan. Additional Director General of Police, South Bengal, Supratim Sarkar said their team carried out a detailed analysis of the reported cases and found leads utilising intelligence inputs to crack down on multiple cybercrime networks. All 46 arrested persons do not belong to the same gang but are rather from various networks with most of them targeting residents from Jharkhand bordering areas of West Bengal.
