WA COVID post-lockdown restrictions to be eased at midnight after WA records no new cases

Restrictions will be eased further in the Perth and Peel regions at midnight after Western Australia recorded no new COVID-19 cases on the third day following the end of a snap lockdown. WA Premier Mark McGowan said Perth and Peel would transition to relaxed restrictions ahead of schedule from midnight following three days of mandatory masks and limits on venue numbers. Ship crew member tests positive The Premier said the infected crew member from the ship off WA's Mid West coast had been transferred to hospital in Geraldton. WA COVID-19 snapshot Confirmed cases so far: 1,159,261 Active cases: 2,550 Cases in hospital: 163 Deaths: 658 Third dose, WA population aged 16+: 83.8 per cent Fourth dose, WA population aged 30+: 31.2 per cent Latest information from the WA Health Department Mr McGowan said the man was managed with appropriate precautions and only attended to by fully vaccinated staff. All close contacts test negative Mr McGowan said 5,177 coronavirus tests were conducted yesterday, with zero new local cases overnight.
