A man in Los Angeles broke down as he begged an official to rescue his dogs trapped in his Pacific Palisades home while a wildfire raged through the upscale neighbourhood. They’re my family” pic.twitter.com/LkgFUB0zML — Brianna Sacks January 8, 2025 The wildfire, fuelled by powerful winds and dry conditions, has already scorched 1,262 acres between Santa Monica and Malibu, prompting the evacuation of 30,000 residents. Flying embers ignited a palm tree near Sunset Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway, while residents in Topanga Canyon reported flames nearly reaching their vehicles as they fled. Before the wildfire began, the National Weather Service had issued its highest fire alert for Los Angeles County, predicting winds of 50 to 80 mph with gusts reaching up to 100 mph in mountainous areas.
