Marine killed during ‘routine military operations’ at Camp Pendleton identified
LA TimesA Marine who died Tuesday evening during what were described as “routine military operations” at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton has been identified, according to the Marine Corps. Miguel A. Maya, a 23-year-old U/AH-1 aircraft avionics technician, died around 5 p.m. “as a result of an aviation ground mishap,” the Marine Corps said in a statement. A Marine who died Tuesday evening during what were described as “routine military operations” at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton has been identified as Cpl. “Our priority right now is taking care of the family of our fallen Marine, and ensuring the well-being of our Marines and their loved ones.” His death comes after a Marine died and 14 others were injured in December when an amphibious combat vehicle rolled over at the training camp.
