Centre to train 5,000 cybercommandos in next five years: Shah
The HinduUnion Home Minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday that cyber security was linked to national security and in the next five years around 5,000 cybercommandos will be trained and deployed across the States to counter such threats. Rajesh Kumar, CEO, I4C, said the cyber crime helpline portal receives 67,000 calls every day and the security agencies identify around 1,500-2,000 mule accounts that are used to defraud people on a daily basis. Mr. Shah said in a vast country like India, “a separate Cyber Suspect Registry for each State would not serve any purpose because States have boundaries but not cyber criminals. Mr. Shah said that so far I4C has issued more than 600 advisories, blocked a wide range of websites, social media pages, mobile apps and accounts operated by cyber criminals.
