Tripura to move SC against termination of teachers

The Tripura government will challenge the High Court verdict terminating 10,323 school teachers on account of gross irregularities in their appointment since 2010. In a landmark judgment on Thursday, a Division Bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice S.C. Das ordered the cancellation of services of the teachers in Undergraduate, Graduate and Postgraduate categories. “The Chief Minister should immediately resign owing responsibility for creating an ordeal for thousands of youths,” Congress State Working president Ashish Saha told newsmen on a day other opposition parties echoed the demand. The Left government recruited 1,100 postgraduate, 4,617 graduate and 4,606 under-graduate teachers in three phases since March 2010, which the High Court termed illegal for not following the rules.
