Thousands pay tearful last respects to Manmohan Singh

The president’s tributes were followed by those of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah, defence minister Rajnath Singh, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla and health minister JP Nadda, who also leads the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. The only Indian to have served as prime minister, finance minister and central bank governor, Singh changed the country’s political and economic landscapes in an extensive career as an erudite economist and technocrat.
