Pakistan has been denying India overland access for trade with Afghanistan and this highway provided an alternative route into the landlocked Afghanistan through Iran’s Chabahar port. Ongoing projects An agreement was signed between India and Afghanistan for the construction of the Shatoot Dam in Kabul district, which would provide safe drinking water to 2 million Afghans.
