Using fake social media accounts to defraud and extort money from people has become a common tactic for cyber scammers. Cybercriminals have created a fake account impersonating President Droupadi Murmu in an attempt to scam people. Recently, Facebook user Mantu Soni, a resident of Hazaribagh in Jharkhand, received a friend request from an account that appeared to belong to the President, featuring her profile picture and other details. Subsequently, the scammer behind the profile said, "I use Facebook very rarely, send me your WhatsApp number", Mantu said. After a few hours, a message came on Facebook Messenger saying, "We have saved your number and have sent you our WhatsApp code, which has gone to your WhatsApp.
