Councillors Rap Mayor, GHMC Chief For Delaying Budget

Hyderabad: Non-BRS councillors on Thursday rapped the GHMC Mayor and the commissioner for delaying the 2024-25 budget and called for a council meeting to be held on priority to discuss the draft Budget. Vurapalli Sravan on Thursday filed a writ petition in the High Court, seeking directions to the GHMC to hold the council meeting as per the schedule prescribed in Section 88 of the GHMC Act. The council meeting should be held every month, I don’t understand the reason for delaying the meeting,” Sravan said. She said the BRS was “only interested in casting aspersions on the state government and playing to the gallery” while the Mayor was unable to “execute simple tasks” like holding GHMC standing committee election and council meeting.
