Governor interfering in Bengal panchayat poll process: Trinamool to state poll body
India TodayAhead of the July 8 West Bengal panchayat polls, the Trinamool Congress on Monday wrote to the State Election Commission against Governor CV Ananda Bose, alleging that the latter was "interdicting" the election process and violated the Model Code of Conduct by meeting leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party. In the letter, the TMC said the Governor was "interfering" in the election process and holding meetings with central security agencies to provide security to BJP leaders without consulting the state government. It said the Governor was questioning the sanctity of the State Election Commission and conducting independent inquiries from officials of the Block Development Office. The Governor collected nomination details, questioned police officials on the law and order situation and set up an alleged control room at Raj Bhawan to purportedly oversee the election process, the letter stated.
