Record-setting hurdler McLaughlin-Levrone chases historic double

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone during the 400m hurdles final at the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, last month. In 2021 she clocked a world record 51.90 sec at the US Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon, to become the first woman to break the 52-second mark. She booked her place in Paris with another world record at the US Olympic trials last month, storming home in 50.65 sec, with a performance in which she appeared to take even herself by surprise. "Since I was eight years old, that's something I had aspired to do, and for it to finally come to fruition felt like a weight off my shoulders," McLaughlin-Levrone said of her Tokyo gold.
