AP Gives Powers to ULBs, Gram Panchayats to Give Building Permissions, Layout Approvals

Vijayawada: Urban local bodies and gram panchayats can henceforth grant building permissions and do layout approvals. It said orders have been issued to delegate certain powers under AP Metropolitan Region and Urban Development Authorities Act, 2016, to these entities falling in the urban development authorities jurisdiction. The powers relating to building permission have been delegated to municipal corporations, municipalities, nagar panchayats and gram panchayats; layout approvals and sub-division of plot in approved layouts can be done by ULBs and nagar panchayats. The commissioners of municipal corporations/ municipalities/ nagar panchayats and panchayat secretary of gram panchayats shall exercise the power judiciously in the true spirit of the provisions in the Act, 2016.
