From faux firs to bald pines: the most unforgettable Christmas trees which (somehow) still bring joy

The Telegraph

Christmas trees are funny old things. Take the local outcry over the Christmas tree in Bailiff Bridge, a town near Brighouse, Yorkshire, which has been dubbed by one councillor as “the worst in the North” after it was only decorated on the bottom half. Calderdale Council, the authority responsible for lighting the tree, said it was only half-decorated due to “accessibility” issues, after the natural tree grew significantly larger than expected, and it was no longer safe to reach its highest sections. The dismal effort caused an outcry from locals, who called the tree “ridiculous” and “depressing.” Ex-Halifax rugby league ace Jamie Bloem said: “After the two years everyone has gone through, a Christmas tree to bring a bit of cheer is a necessity. And with tighter restrictions, I think a bit of cheer would be great right now.” The sorry-looking shrub joins a long legacy of amusing Christmas tree failures.
