Union Minister Suresh Gopi highlights contribution of Telugu literature to Carnatic music
The HinduUnion Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism Suresh Gopi on Friday emphasised the ‘unparalleled contributions’ made by the Telugu language and literature to the Carnatic music. Speaking at the inaugural of a three-day music festival ‘Krishnaveni Sangeetha Neerajanam’, jointly organised by the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture, in Vijayawada, Mr. Suresh Gopi said the festival was a celebration of the timeless traditions of the Carnatic music and its deep connection with Telugu culture and literature. Mr. Suresh Gopi said through these festivals, the Ministry of Tourism is creating a template for ‘Music Tourism’. State Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh called for the need to promote the rich culture and tradition of the Telugu land, especially in the wake of the growing tilt of the younger generations towards western music.
