Wisconsin recruiting gets early 2024 jolt from Grant Stec: ‘I can feel the energy’

New York Times

It would have been easy when compiling his junior season highlights for tight end Grant Stec to stack catch after catch so college coaches would be enthralled with his playmaking ability. If you want to know why Stec — a four-star prospect who publicly announced his commitment to Wisconsin in the 2024 class on Sunday — is such a special player, it’s because of his ability to be the total package at tight end. “Sometimes you’ll see kids come out of high schools who are 6-6 and might have the size but can’t catch a ball,” Jacobs football coach Brian Zimmerman said. He hasn’t even fully developed yet, which I think is kind of scary.” Tight end was one of the few positions on offense, along with running back, that Wisconsin’s coaches didn’t immediately address through the transfer portal this offseason. But Stec’s addition became the first of two critical pickups at tight end to shore up the position for the 2024 class by the end of January.
