Dean Smith is the first to manage successive Premier League games against the SAME team

Dean Smith will become the first ever manager to take charge of successive Premier League matches against the same opponent after taking over at Norwich City. Norwich City confirmed the appointment of Dean Smith as their new manager on Monday Aston Villa's 1-0 defeat away to Southampton on November 5 was the final nail in Smith's coffin with the club. His first game in the Norwich dugout will come against the same opposition as the Canaries face Southampton at Carrow Road when the Premier League restarts after the international break this weekend. Smith's last game at Aston Villa was a 1-0 defeat away to Southampton in the Premier League Southampton overpowered Villa as they slipped to their fifth successive defeat in the league In doing so, he will make the history books as the first manager to take charge of successive Premier League matches against the same opponent.
