Volvo to unveil first EV XC40 SUV in October

PUNE: Volvo Cars, the Swedish luxury car brand, will unveil its first fully electric car called XC40 small SUV next month for the global market in the US. The brand has promised that its first EV will be “one of the safest cars we’ve ever built”. “Regardless of what drives a car forward, be it an electric machine or combustion engine, a Volvo must be safe,” Malin Ekholm, Head of Safety at Volvo Cars said. The front structure of the XC40, which is built on Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture platform, has been redesigned to account for the absence of an engine.
