First in Maharashtra: Soon, a CCTV command centre for Navi Mumbai
Hindustan TimesNavi Mumbai is set to be the first city in Maharashtra to have a four-storeyed state-of-the-art CCTV command centre. Pradeep Kannalu, assistant commissioner of police, said, “We already have one CCTV command centre at the police commissioner’s office, from where we are monitoring the existing cameras. However, one single room is not sufficient for monitoring so many cameras installed across the city.” Sources from the police department told Hindustan Times there would be a 70-foot tall screen in the command centre and the entire screen will be accessible for viewing from the first, second and third floor. The Navi Mumbai police, under the guidance of the state IT department, have envisaged a collaborative framework to monitor the goings-on inside public and private institutes through the CCTV cameras installed there.
