JPC Adopts Draft Of Personal Data Protection Bill, To Be Tabled In Winter Parliament Session
ABP NewsNew Delhi: Joint Parliamentary Committee held a meeting regarding the Personal Data Protection Bill today as reported by ANI. The JPC adopted the draft report of the Joint Committee on The Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 by a majority in the meeting and it will be tabled in the upcoming Parliament session. The Personal Data Protection Bill 2019, which deals with the protection of personal data and privacy of Indian citizens, was approved by the Central cabinet in December 2019. The Personal Data Protection Bill 2019 proposes for protection of the privacy of individuals relating to their personal data, specify the flow and usage of personal data, establish trust between persons and entities processing personal data, protect the right of the person whose personal data is been processed, to create a framework for organisational and technical measures in the processing of data, laying down norms for social media intermediary, cross border transfer, accountability of entities processing personal data, remedies for unauthorised and harmful processing, and to establish a Data Protection Authority of India.
