Pesto the penguin breaking new records as the summer slim-down begins

Pesto — Melbourne Aquarium's giant-sized penguin — has entered his "awkward teenage phase" and is shedding weight and feathers fast. General manager Claire Burrell said since Pesto's arrival people a record number of people had visited. "At the moment that's Auntie Queenie baby-sitting him," Ms Brown said. In the wild, a penguin chick's parents would also keep their young safe from the water, but at the aquarium a number of adult penguins, including Pesto's parents, are also going through a "catastrophic moult".
