Canada officer, wanted in India in terrorism case, given clean chit by Trudeau govt
FirstpostSandeep Singh Sidhu aka Sunny Toronto, who is wanted in India for promoting terrorist activities and for the murder of a Shaurya Chakra awardee in Punjab, has been given clean chit in Canada. Sidhu, a member of the banned International Sikh Youth Federation, is wanted in India for promoting terrorism and the murder of a Shaurya Chakra awardee Balwinder Singh Sandhu in Punjab’s Tarn Taran in 2020. The probe and subsequent clean chit to wanted terrorist Sidhu came amid the ongoing diplomatic tension between India and Canada over the murder of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June last year. In India, Sidhu is accused of killing Shaurya Chakra awardee and a Canadian national Balwinder Singh Sandhu outside his home at Bhikhiwind in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district.
