DDA moots exclusive tracks for pedestrians, cyclists
Live MintNew Delhi: As rising vehicular traffic chokes city roads, the Delhi Development Authority has proposed a network of dedicated tracts for pedestrians and cyclists as a safer and greener alternative for mobility. DDA on Wednesday made a detailed presentation of the project titled “The Delhi Cycle walk” at a meeting of senior officials of the line departments and stakeholders which was chaired by Lt Governor Anil Baijal. The 33-km long corridor, or the inter-connected tracts, will cover key hubs like Greater Kailash, Nehru Place, Tuglaqabad and Delhi Secretariat, and will have plazas, toilets and food kiosks etc. Explaining about the project to media, a DDA official said the objective is to connect all green spaces and reduce traffic congestion in the city.
