OpenAI board that fired Sam Altman ‘replaced’. CEO's X post on sole survivor

Following Sam Altman's shock return as chief executive of OpenAI late Tuesday, the board that fired him from his role in the company, a ChatGPT-maker, has been almost entirely replaced after a rebellion by employees, news agency AFP reported. OpenAI's new board will boast more experience at the top level and strong ties to both the US government and Wall Street, news agency Reuters reported. Neither Altman nor OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman -- who quit as company president following Altman's sacking -- will return to the board, which could soon have as many as six additional members, the Wall Street Journal reported. However, OpenAI's interim CEO Emmett Shear, said in a social media post that he had been assured "The board did *not* remove Sam over any specific disagreement on safety," without elaborating on why Altman had been sacked.
