Nothing’s CMF Devices Prove Yet Again Cheap Doesn't Have to Mean Boring

Wired

Budget gadgets are usually stuck with drab designs and lackluster specs, a challenge Nothing's sub-brand CMF has decided to take on. Today marks its first smartphone, the CMF Phone 1, becoming available in the US through a beta program. I have tested cheap and flagship smartphones for nearly a decade, and after setting up the CMF Phone 1, I was pretty surprised to hear it costs just $199—it looks, feels, and performs nearly twice the price. I was unboxing with zero prior knowledge about the devices, so I was surprised to see a weird circular nub on the bottom right corner of the phone, and even more confused to find a SIM eject tool with a flathead screwdriver on the other end.
