2 UP cops suspended after rape survivor's father dies by suicide over FIR delay

Two police officers in Uttar Pradesh's Jalaun have been suspended after the father of a gangrape survivor died by suicide on Monday over an alleged delay in the registration of an FIR in the case. One of the suspended officers is a Station House Officer, the police said. The family then logged their complaint on the chief minister's 'jansunvaai' portal on Saturday, following which the police took cognizance and directed that action be initiated against the accused. Following this, the guilty police officers were suspended immediately, and the gangrape accused have also been arrested.
