Peak load expected to cross 17,500 MW later this season, says Principal Secy. S.K. Sultania

HYDERABAD The State government is expecting the peak load of power on the transmission to cross the 17,500 megawatt during the next few months as the loads are increasing constantly during the ongoing Rabi cultivation season and ensuing summer season. The efforts in providing quality, reliable and uninterrupted power supply have helped meet the highest peak demand of 16,601 MW clocked on February 26, he said, adding that there was no time to relax as the loads were expected to rise constantly with higher domestic and commercial loads adding to the present loads. Chairman and Managing Director of the Northern Discom K. Varun Reddy apprised that as part of reducing overload works of new substations, 33 kV feeders, 11 kV feeders and 33 kV interlinking lines to provide alternative power supply have been completed. Stating that augmentation work on 16 power transformers of the TG-Transco was completed so far, CMD of the power utility D. Krishna Bhaskar said work on another 6 power transformers would be completed soon.
