540 students to be conferred upon degrees from Music University in convocation on January 18

Karnataka State Dr. Gagnubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University will confer degrees to 540 students during the convocation to be held here on January 18. Prof. Bettakote said the Music University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with as many as 70 institutions across the State this year, and students who enroll for various courses during the current academic year will also be eligible to participate in the convocation in the future. But as the music varsity has clubbed the convocations of three years, nine persons – three in each year – will be conferred the honorary doctorate. Among the graduating students, Ms. Vijayshree has bagged nine gold medals in Carnatic music for the year 2021-22; Ms. L.P.Bindu won six gold medals in the Hindustani genre for 2022-23; and Ms. Keerthana bagged five gold medals in Carnatic genre.
