Earth's orbit is congesting, World Economic Forum has a solution
India TodayWith the Low Earth Orbit becoming highly congested due to new satellite launches, the threat of collisions among these satellites and an increase in space debris remain high. The World Economic Forum has now launched a global initiative to develop a "Space Sustainability Rating" that will shed light on the rising threat. WEF TO RATE AGENCIES FROM NASA TO ISRO The EPFL will score global space agencies from Nasa to Isro on factors ranging from data sharing, choice of orbit, measures taken to avoid collisions, plans to de-orbit satellites on completion of missions, and even how well they can be detected and identified from Earth. Incentivising better behaviour by having actors compete on sustainability will create a race to the top," Nikolai Khlystov, Lead for Mobility and Space, World Economic Forum said in a statement.
