Manipur Increases Security with 134 Checkpoints Amid Unrest

In a bid to strengthen law and order, Manipur authorities have installed 134 checkpoints across the state, encompassing hill and valley districts. The checkpoints, referred to as "Nakas," also ensure the safe passage of essential goods along key highways. Security convoys have escorted hundreds of vehicles carrying supplies along National Highways 2 and 37, which are critical lifelines for the state. Officials report that the heightened security measures aim to address challenges posed by social unrest and insurgency activities.
