CPI(M) district conference in Kottayam to conclude on January 5
The HinduThe four-day Kottayam district conference of the Communist Party of India will draw to a close in Pampady on Sunday. Mr. Russel is expected to continue as district secretary, with the district committee likely to see the inclusion of a few new members. Key resolutions passed during the delegates’ meeting include demands for the speedy realisation of the Angamaly–Sabarimala railway line, the declaration of a support price for rubber by the Union government, fast-tracking the Sabarimala Greenfield International Airport project in Erumely, and addressing the perceived neglect of the State by the Central government. The organisational report praised the positive impact of the Kerala Congress joining the Left Democratic Front, although it noted that the coalition indeed failed to sustain the momentum it had gained in the 2020 local body elections during the subsequent Assembly and Parliament elections.
