‘Challenge your limit’: Pakistani teenager who summited K2

Shehroze Kashif holds the distinction of being the youngest person to reach the summit of both K2 and Mount Everest. A young mountaineer who last week scaled the second-highest mountain on earth, says he felt a “sense of achievement” as he stood atop the K2 summit and hoisted the Pakistani flag. Shehroze Kashif, 19, who hails from the eastern city of Lahore in Pakistan, summited K2 at 8,611 meters last week, becoming the world’s youngest mountaineer to scale the treacherous mountain, according to Karrar Haidri, secretary of the Alpine Club of Pakistan. “I received mountaineer training and technical assistance and moved on to big mountains in which the dangerous and difficult mountains K2, Broad Peak and Mount Everest are included,” he said. Haidri said Kashif now holds the additional distinction of being the youngest person to reach the summit of K2 and Everest.
