Shocked at silence of PM on communal tensions: 13 opposition parties in statement

13 opposition parties on Saturday issued a joint appeal to people to maintain peace and harmony and demanded stringent punishment for perpetrators of communal violence. While condemning the recent outburst of communal violence witnessed across several states in the country, the opposition parties said that they are deeply concerned with the reports of it. Incendiary hate speeches preceded the aggressive armed religious processions unleashing communal violence,” read the joint statement issued by the opposition parties. In the statement, the opposition parties also said that they are extremely pained at the manner in which social media and the audio-visual platforms are being misused with official patronage to spread hatred and prejudice.
