Budget 2025: Will new income tax regime steal the spotlight again?

The upcoming budget may focus on the new income tax regime yet again to increase its appeal compared to the old tax regime. There’s discussion around revising concessional tax rates for income brackets between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 15 lakh, potentially offering significant relief to middle-income taxpayers and encouraging a shift toward the New Tax Regime. CII President Sanjiv Puri has called for reducing personal income tax rates for individuals earning up to Rs 20 lakh annually to stimulate consumption and economic growth.
