Constitutional recognition summit: What's happening at Uluru this week?

ABC

There are really significant talks starting this week to decide whether Indigenous people think it's worth changing our constitution. Key points: The delegation will discuss Commonwealth powers to make special laws for 'any race' Constitutional recognition will be discussed although many see it as merely symbolic Compensation and native title is the kind of recognition many are fighting for Hundreds of people will be there from every state and territory. Many people think that's unacceptable given Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have been here for an incredible 60,000 years. There could be support for the First Nations body which could advise the Government when it's making laws for Aboriginal people.
